history of the s Choolhouse
The Schoolhouse was reportedly built in 1912, the year the Titanic sailed.
It was a single-room school for children living in the Evergreen, Texas community.
During the Great Depression the lack of work in area timber mills and forests
resulted in many families moving away and the Schoolhouse’s closing.
The Everett family purchased the building in the 1940’s and sold it in the 1980’s
to the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church who made it their youth center.
In 1995 the building was moved to Wood Duck Farm where it remains a work in progress.
